The Inaugural UK Rock Scissor Paper Championship 2009 held at the Imperial Pub in Exeter on Tuesday 9th June 2009 was won by Nick Hemley, 22, from Woking, Surrey.
In a tense final against Michael Murgatroyd, which saw both contests draw level with 2 wins each and then both throw paper, Nick finally won with a killer scissors beating paper throw and walked away with the £100 first prize. 'I didn't have any tactics for the contest', admitted Nick afterwards. 'I just prepared with plenty of beer and then bamboozled my opponents with some very brave gambits!'
Organiser Sally Raynes from speciality event organisers Wacky Nation said, "there was a great atmosphere, everyone really got behind each contestant. We had contests dressed in diving gear, wacky wigs and as caped crusaders."
Clic Sergant also had a really successful 'Challenge Clic' fundraising competition, with three eventual winners sharing the £25 prize for each lasting for three rounds.
